In these days of education, not enough attention is paid to students’ physical health, which has a negative impact on their all-round development, says an article in Wuhan Evening News. Excerpts.
The shortage of physical education teachers especially in the elementary level reflects how students’ physical health is being ignored in education.
In elementary , physical education classes always yield to subjects that are wrongly considered more important by school managements and teachers.Though educational authorities have worked out several rules to ensure school students undergo physical exercises to improve their health, the neglect of physical education in schools has turned it into a joke.
If educational authorities really want physical education to be part of the curricula, how could school inspection officials overlook the shortage of physical education teachers? If the authorities are really serious about making physical education mandatory in schools, why don’t they withhold the clearance certificate of schools that don’t have adequate number of physical education teachers?
The recent deaths of CLRAA athletes, student from Division of Bulacan have set the alarm bells ringing, leaving many worried about people’s, especially youngsters’, physical health.
The problem with is that we ignores the importance of physical exercise, so lets work hand in hand think of a better curriculum of Physical Education as a subject especially now that Kto12 were implemented in the Philippines and Kto12 is a curriculum that test the skills of our students not only in academic but also the extra curricular that test the multiple intelligence of our students..

MAPEH is an acronym that stands for Music, Arts, Physical Education and Health. This are specialised subjects that are offered as a combined unit and give greater learning and development of a person to a well rounded character.(adopted from Ask.com)
Why MAPEH subject is important? this subjects are all connected to our artistic skills. we may not notice it but we use these sometimes. also, this may help us if ever our course in college would be connected to these areas. music and art can loosen up our potential, if we do have, that we may use in the future. physical education can help us to be physically fit engaged into different kinds of activities. lastly, health, this can help us learn more about ourselves and our environment, which things are good and which are not. through this, we may take good care of ourselves with thorough knowledge. like me, now, i became really afraid of plastics when we discussed pet. to be honest, i really learned lot that these really affect our health lot. hope you did too. And this subject is a combined unit that give greater learning and development of a person to a well rounded character.it seeks to expose students to and development of appreciation to our country.students do not only acquire functional and theoretical knowledge but are also introduced to applications like singing ,dancing, playing Filipino instruments, listening to recordings, reading, writing and creating music.
Finally , we all know that Physical Education is important for the health and well being of people of all ages. It is enjoyable, builds self- confidence and improves ones health and fitness. Specific sports skills are developed in individual as well as team sports. Students experience a variety of lifetime and recreational activities. Students who are blind or visually impaired also need to experience physical activity. The visually impaired student with additional disabilities should experience a program designed to improve their fitness levels by participating in various games, activities and exercises. Some students may have developed poor circulation, limited lung capacity, poor muscle tone, poor posture, and a tendency to become overweight. A regular physical activity program will improve fitness and give the student confidence to move through space without instructions. It can also develop motor skills needed for daily living and mobility.

MAPEH a a good link for K to 12 Curriculum

TIII- Munoz National Annex
Do you know what MAPEH means? M stands for Music, A stands for Arts , P. E. stands for Physical Education and H stands for Health. Now, What is K to 12 Curriculum?
The K to 12 Program covers kindergarten and 12 years of basic education (six years of primary education, four years of junior high school, and two years of senior high school [SHS]) to provide sufficient time for mastery of concepts and skills, develop lifelong learners, and prepare graduates for tertiary education, middle-level skills development, employment, and entrepreneurship.
The adoption of the program is in response to the need to improve the competitiveness of our country’s graduates as the ten-year basic education cycle is seen as inadequate for work and higher education. In fact, overseas Filipino workers are not automatically recognized as professionals[1] in other countries that view the ten-year education program as insufficient. The Philippines is the only country in Asia and is one of only three countries[2] in the world with a ten-year basic education cycle. (adopted from K to 12 curriculum guide). This subject is very important for now especially when you are taking an education course you have to take a major course of MAPEH because it is necessary and this is the demand for the K-12 curriculum. I know if you have this kind of specialization you will have a big opportunity in the near future that you will be hired immediately. So when you specialized the skills it must be covered by a MAPEH subject. For sure, You will definitely become a globally competitive individual . That’s why MAPEH is a good link for this new curriculum. MAPEH subject develops a lot of skills that is why in the Kindergarten there is already this subject and take note it is not integrated in any subject ..it is a separate subject.

Parangal sa aking Guro
Ni Gng. Amelita M. Joaquin
Aking guro, Aking Bayani. Bakit?
