In the advancement of technology, teachers should have the initiative to find effective ways to meet the needs of pupils in the development of their knowledge, skills and attitudes. The computer-aided instructions/lessons would maintain and sustain the interest and needs of Grade 1 pupils in order to cope up with progress and development in this fast changing world.
Developing the core skills of pupils is basically necessary for effective learning and active participation in class. This will be made possible by adapting the innovation in teaching that employs the utilization of computer in the mastery of letter sounds, blending and reading CVC combination of words including phrase reading. It is believed that pupils will find more enjoyment and fun while learning. Furthermore, the challenge for individual learning and remediation applying the computer-aided instructions is an advantage for teachers and pupils who are interested to use this package. The teacher’s task remains as facilitator and the burden of preparing a lot of visual aids is lessened. The lessons in reading in a simplified way wherein the pupils learn the skills by themselves with a minimal assistance from the teacher.
It is along this premise that the teacher would like to explore the effectiveness of the computer-aided instruction as a means to enhance and improve the reading skills and performance of Grade 1 pupils.

Is Study Habit Important?
Michelle T. Jayme
TIII-Villa Cuizon ES
Study habit is essential in acquiring high grades. Study means an act or process of pursuing knowledge or understanding on a subject. A habit is an acquired act that is routinely and automatically performed. It means an integrated sequence of learned or conditioned behavior that occurs in a specific context and serves to produce particular outcomes.
One of the problems of pupils nowadays is how to have time to study. We all know that young people today have many activities that it seems 24 hours are not enough for them to do all those activities. With regards to these problems study habits of pupils are being forgotten because of useless activities they have in mind and they are doing.
As pupils they are having difficulties in budgeting their time. After schooling they have or do extra activities and that is one reason why they have no time to study and feel very tired and sleepy to do assignments or study their lessons. They already ignore their lessons because of tiredness. In that matter, they are very vulnerable to failures or getting low grades during exams or tests.
Therefore, in that case pupils should need to allot time to those activities that are very useful and learn how to budget time. Stick to it and do it. Pupils should start and ends on time in every activities he is doing.

Action Research on ImprovingTeachers’ English Proficiency Level at Villa Nati Elementary School: Its Causes and Recommended Solutions
“Communication
competence is a must for every teacher. At Villa Nati Elementary School, an
action research on improving their English competence was conducted in 2012 and based on the findings of the
study, the following were the recommendations of the school head-researcher. Since all teachers claimed that they did not specialize in English, regular activities that will develop their English competence may be provided such as a short discussion followed by a 5 or 10-item quiz every teacher Friday of the Reduced Friday class program or during SLAC sessions.
Encourage peer teaching among teachers since results revealed that most of them have below ten years teaching experience. The school head should also monitor the attendance of the teachers in any English-related seminars and encourage them to take part. The school head may propose a policy which will require teachers to speak English with the principal and among themselves. |
What is the Role of Parent-Teacher Associations (PTA) in the School?
Parent – Teacher Associations (PTA’s) plays a crucial role in the education. It is a local and national organizations of parents and teacher working together for the benefit of the pupils and in the improvement of the school.
Why do we need a Parent-Teacher Associations? Just like any other organizations or associations, PTA’s have important functions for the welfare of the pupils/students. The primary roles of PTA is to help create an amiable atmosphere/relationships to all teachers, school head, pupils and other members in the community. Strong relationships with them can be build through regular meetings and open communications with the members and officers of the association. PTA’s also involved in fundraising to help in the continuing programs of the school project given priority to pupils’ development physically, mentally and spiritually. The money raised by the PTA can also be used to buy things needed by the pupils such as sports equipments, science materials, visual materials, computers, etc. and other programs or seminars/trainings, contests joining by the pupils. PTA’s also involved in academic events such as organizing, promoting and hosting special events or contest. They also serve as the “alalay” of teachers when joining outside activities or special programs, athletic meet and the like. The PTA indirectly or directly helps improve the life of pupils not only in the school but also at home and in the community. PTA’s role also is to link between parents and administration specially in decision making involving pupils. |
